JFR #18: Ginger Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is another Country Ma'am limited edition cookie. It boasts that ginger made in Japan is used, and, since it's a summer cookie, you are supposed to cool the cookies before eating them. I think I bought this just because of the picture on the front. I really want lemon tea with chunks of ginger flavored cookies. I will say it's been awhile since I've had ginger bread or ginger cookies, but I do have a special place in my heart for those foods. The addition of chocolate chips seemed like a bad idea, but that's not why these cookies were horrible. They aren't ginger cookies. They're chocolate chip cookies with large chunks of ginger inside. Way too much ginger.

What do you think when some says American pizza? Obviously, your first thought is, "Four flavors!" And what would those four flavors be? "Umm...1/4 hawaiian, 1/4 philly cheese steak, 1/4 Texas chipotle chicken, 1/4 California shrimp pizza!" Correct.

Japanese Food Review #17: Spicy Cheese Jagarico

One thing I think we all associate with the summer is spicy cheese. Now we're able to enjoy our spicy cheese in Jagarico form. Jagaricos are shaped like french fries but are are crunchy like chips. They're also overpriced costing the same amount as a bag of chips, but they taste pretty good. Spicy Cheese is not exactly an accurate title for westerners because the Japanese consider black pepper to be spicy. This is actually just black pepper and cheese flavor. It's also labeled as an adult flavor, so I assume it's an aphrodisiac. I don't know, I got pretty turned on while eating them anyway.

Girlbot: 0  She for some reason had it in her head that this was going to be the most disgusting combination of flavors ever, so she barely tasted them before announcing they were horrible and a 0.

Double Curry Bread

The folks at Mr. Doughnut have done it again creating a bread that contains both yellow and black curry. They've also created an amazing ad that appears to be incredibly expensive. The research they did on Indian culture alone must have cost a fortune.

POP Shirahoshi Princess

I was trying to figure out exactly what this is. Some character in One Piece, but other than that, I have know idea why it would have to be in a protective case. I found a Japanese blog which features a ton of pictures of it. If you scroll a little ways down you can see several close ups on the boobs from different angles. A very informative blog, and I think I now understand why I'll a pay a ton of money for this.

Sumo Towel

I went to sumo the other day and girlbot bought a pretty awesome beach towel. It's got all the best wrestlers. My favorite part is the chest hair on Kotooshu.

JFR #16: Kaki No Tane (Spicy Korean Ramen Flavor)

Kaki no tane means "seed of persimmon" but there are no parts of a persimmon. It's senbei (rice cracker) shaped like persimmon seeds and peanuts. It's one of the best snacks to eat while drinking in Japan. There's usually original and wasabi flavor available. I prefer wasabi. They also make new limited time flavors all the time. This type of ramen, called shin ramen, is available in many American stores in my experience. Girlbot really likes shin ramen, saying she would give it a 7 or 8.

Gaybot: 3  They weren't really all that horrible, but I don't know why I would ever choose these over wasabi flavor.
Girlbot: 3   She says they were too spicy, but she gave them bonus points for tasting exactly like shin ramen... which she loves... but, umm, 3.

Indians

I wouldn't recommend watching more than a few seconds of this. It's Momoiro Clover Z again. I think the music is supposed to sound Indian (like the country), but they're dressed up as American-Indians. Other than that, the video makes perfect sense.

Shaving Cream

Of course grown men want anime characters on their shaving cream cans.

Giraffes

People sometimes complain that Japanese cities are a bit on the ugly or boring side..., but then you see something like this that takes your breath away.

Also, do yourself a favor and type in "giraffe fight" on youtube if you haven't already.

Japanese Food Review #15: Curry and Cheese Pizza Chips

These are a limited edition version of "Pizza Potato" which all have small amounts of "cheese" on them. Sometimes in Japan they eat curry pizza. They also make pizza on nan, so it kind of makes sense.

Ratings: 
Gaybot: 5     Not bad. I like curry flavored snacks, but the normal pizza chips are better.
Girlbot: 1.5   She said they were horrible and then ate the rest of the bag.

Lotte Fit's

The new Fit's commercial is out. Nozomi's at it again. There's a dancing sign this time. A nice hip wiggle, I guess. And you can see the new coffee jelly flavor at the end. Haven't tried it yet, sounds delicious.

Smoking Area

This is a temporary smoking area set up next to a temple. No photography is allowed inside, otherwise I would have been able to get some pretty scandalous photos of middle-aged business men smoking.

Mall Renovation!!!

The mall by my house is remodeling, and I would estimate there are at least 250 of these posters inside. These posters make a lot of sense. I would say a mall adding a few new stores is kind of similar to seeing a faceless woman disrobe, in terms of the excitement I'm feeling anyway. Like, what's the new carpet going to look like and junk.

Japanese Food Review #14: Gourmet Anchovy and Garlic Doritos

I'll admit that I don't like anchovies to begin with, but these were horrible. The garlic flavor was actually quite strong, which should have been a good thing, but it for some reason brought to mind biting into a clove of raw garlic (which would still be much better than these chips). Neither girlbort nor I were able to get through a whole chip. The rest of the bag ended up in the garbage. The next day when I was throwing away the coffee grounds, I couldn't believe the over-powering stench coming from the trash can. I don't know, maybe some of you would be into these, but this is now the standard for worst snack in Japan as far as I'm concerned.

Scalabo

This is a new kind of dandruff shampoo with a really long, poetic slogan. Their ad campaign also seems to be influenced by the Power Rangers.

Another Boobies

Boobies is apparently a chain tattoo parlor.

I've only seen two stores so far, but I'll be on the look out for more boobies. Also, what a cool looking used clothing store. "Feeet," says open 11:00.
