When I drive around, I've just got to let everyone know that I'm super into Giraffe. Not so much the animal (it is an animal, right?), but more the letters and the order they come in. Whoever came up with that was a genius.
That might be fun, but tickets are like $250, and I've already seen them play a small venue. They put on a really crappy show, but it was hard to tell if they were doing it on purpose to recreate the movie or something. I got super bummed out.
I saw them this last summer when they came through Minneapolis at first ave in August. It was the first stop on their whole tour, and they put on a really great show. The first four songs especially were amazing, probably the best beginning to a concert I'd ever been to, and then Anton acted like an asshole for a few minutes, and even though it was never quite as good afterwards, the rest of the show was still really really good. But that was about $235 cheaper than the tickets there.
We got to the concert I went to way before the doors opened and convinced the bouncer to let us in for a drink. Anton came up to us and thought we were the opening band. He talked for a bit, realized we weren't a band, and had us thrown out. Then he kicked the opening band off the stage after two or three songs. BJM just jammed for like three hours. They played maybe five actual songs, and one by one each member left. Anton kept taking everyone's instrument and trying to show them what to play, but would then never give it back. He put all the guitars against the amps so they were feeding back like crazy and started playing the symbols by himself. That lasted about ten minutes before the club shut it down. I guess it was cool.
I remember you telling me a version of that story the year we lived each other out in St. Paul. That sounds pretty hilarious actually, but I probably wouldn't try and see them again if that had happened to me. We actually got the whole Tepid Peppermint album played live, minus Sue, and plus their cover of There's a War Going On. Congrats on the baby to you and Noriko by the way, I will try to come visit before he or she turns five. Also, you should probably check this out:

Sounds awesome. I'll think I'll make it back to the states sometime in the next five years as well. Also, awesome vid.
