Rain

A typhoon hit Japan yesterday. It was no longer classified as a typhoon when it hit Nagoya, but at one point more than 100mm of rain fell in one hour alone. Much of Nagoya was flooded. These are some photos around my house. The rain let up for about 30 minutes and most of the water drained away quickly.

I guess it got a lot deeper than this elsewhere.

  1. Does Nagoya have infrastructure specifically designed to get rid of flood water really quickly?

    1. I don't really know, but it seems like it. I would guess most cities in Japan are pretty well prepared for floods (typhoons are really common). Overall, most of Japan's infrastructure is good. I do think that the closer you got to the port, the longer the water took to flow away.
